NTC Thermistor 100K NTC3950 THERMISTOR new temperature sensor for 3D printer
NTC Thermistor 100K NTC3950 THERMISTOR new temperature sensor for 3D printer
- NTC Thermistor is a temperature sensor that changes resistance based on temperature. In most FFF/FDM 3D printers, a NTC 100K thermistor is used to measure both hotend (extruder) temperature and heated bed temperature.
- As temperature increases, the thermistor’s resistance decreases, allowing the printer’s control board to regulate heating accurately.
- This type of sensor is widely used because it is compact, easy to install, and provides stable readings when correctly matched to firmware settings.
- A typical reference point is 100KΩ at room temperature (25°C), which is a common standard in 3D printing electronics. When the sensor is healthy, its resistance drops smoothly as the temperature rises.
- If the sensor fails or wiring becomes damaged, you may see symptoms such as unstable temperature readings, unrealistic values, sudden spikes, or thermal errors that can stop a print.
